Cutting The Lace Off Your New Wig

Cutting The Lace Off Your New Wig

You've received your new lace-top wig, and you're asking yourself "What do I do about the extra lace? I am scared to mess up my wig!"

When purchasing from With Love Beauty Collective, your wig will come with between 1-2" of excess lace on the front of your wig that will need to be removed. This is meant to be cut back. That lace is proving your wig has not been worn. It would be the equivalent of cutting the tags off of a newly purchased sweater.

Cutting the lace on your lace front wig can be a little nerve-wracking, but we PROMISE it gets easier every time you do it. You can practice on loose scraps of lace from the fabric store. Doing this will help you to figure out a technique that works best for you and your daily wig-wearing routine.

The only two things you'll need are a small pair of scissors and a couple hair clips. The video only demonstrates on one side, but obviously she cut the full lace from ear to ear. We personally like small zigzag cuts because it tricks the eye away from an overly perfect straight cut the lace. I think a straight cut can sometimes draw the eyes directly to your hairline, which all of us want to avoid.

Our biggest suggestion is LESS IS MORE when cutting. Cut small pieces and then pull back to look at yourself in the mirror. You can always cut more as you see fit. Once it's cut, it's gone.
